What is LIFA?

LIFA

LIFA was originally established to expand access to finance education, investment learning, and professional development opportunities for students within LSBE at WLU. From its inception, LIFA was designed to complement traditional academic learning by providing practical, career-oriented exposure to financial markets, valuation techniques, and investment decision-making processes.

Over time, LIFA evolved into a structured platform through which students could develop technical competencies, gain mentorship, and prepare for competitive roles in finance and related fields.

Our Mission

LIFA exists to provide students with meaningful exposure to investing, financial markets, and professional development through a structured, long-term, and experiential learning environment. LIFA is founded on the belief that exceptional development occurs through responsibility, accountability, mentorship, collaboration, and direct exposure to real-world decision-making. LIFA seeks to replicate aspects of professional investment organizations while maintaining its primary educational mission.

While technical competency is essential, LIFA places equal emphasis on integrity, professionalism, intellectual curiosity, leadership, communication, humility, and long-term personal development. LIFA recognizes that technical knowledge can be learned through education, training, and experience; however, character, professionalism, sound judgment, and interpersonal effectiveness remain enduring determinants of leadership and career success. Accordingly, LIFA is committed to developing well-rounded individuals who possess not only strong analytical capabilities, but also the personal qualities necessary to lead, collaborate, and represent LIFA with distinction throughout their careers.
